Fans of the long-running Pokémon franchise know that with each installment comes a new wave of abilities and features for players to take advantage of. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, this comes as a new feature called Terastallization which gives Pokemon the ability to transform into crystallized versions of themselves with more powerful moves. These moves are determined by Tera’s type, which can be any of the 18 types you can find throughout the game. However, when you catch a wild Pokemon, its Tera type will automatically align with whatever type that Pokemon is.
There is one way to change a Pokemon’s Tera type, and that is by using Tera Shards. But where can you find them? Are they easy to find?

Tera Shards are a random drop that can be acquired after fighting a Tera Pokemon, either solo or with your friends. After you defeat the Pokemon, its Tera Jewel will break and turn into a Tera Shard for you to grab. The most reliable way to find Tera Pokemon is to search your map for Tera Raids with the Tera Type you’re looking for. In some cases, other characters will give Tera Shards for completing a variety of tasks. Once you’ve acquired 50 Tera Fragments, you can trade them with the chef at the Treasure Eatery in Medali City to change your Pokemon’s Tera Type.
