16-Year-Old Girl Shot for Stealing Popcorn

An unfortunate incident has occured in Mississippi.

16-year-old Za’Lill D’Chelle Patterson attempted to steal from a popcorn store.

The girl was shot in her leg for stealing.

The incident happened inside Northpark Mall in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

CBS 42 said that the shooting happened around 5:20 p.m.

When the store owner caught Patterson trying to steal, she pulled out a gun.

In self defence the store owner shot Patterson in the leg.

Police said Patterson was taken to a hospital in the area.

Then she was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon and taken to the Madison County Detention Center.

The teenager will be charged as an adult.

No charges were brought against the store's owner.
