In the latest installment of the Pokémon franchise, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you can explore a new ability called Terastallization. This is when the Pokemon turns into a crystallized version of itself with more powerful moves based on its Tera Type. Normally, a Pokemon’s Tera type is based on what type that Pokemon is. If you’re looking to change this, you’ll need to collect 50 Tera Shards and head to the city of Medali.
It is important to note that the gym leader of this town, Larry, must first be defeated. You cannot change your Pokemon’s Tera Type until this is complete.

When you reach Medali and have defeated Larry, you can re-enter the gym restaurant. This place is called Treasure Eatery. Here, you need to talk to the chef who asks if you want to change the Tera type of any Pokemon. As long as you have the required 50 Tera Shards, you can come here and exchange them for a plate that can change a Pokemon’s Tera Type. This cannot be reversed, but you can change Tera’s type again when you have the required number of shards. Changing Tera’s type is not limited to any Pokémon, so you can experiment with different types among your different Pokémon.
